About the Journal

Al-Qadim: Jurnal Tafsir dan Ilmu Tafsir is a high-quality, open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal published by Ma'had Aly Nurul Qadim, Probolinggo, East Java. The journal is dedicated to the study and dissemination of research in the field of Quranic Exegesis (Tafsir) and the Sciences of the Quran (Ulum al-Qur'an).

Focus and Scope

The journal provides a specialized forum for scholars, researchers, and students to explore the rich intellectual tradition of Islam through various perspectives. We welcome original research articles that cover, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  • Classical and Contemporary Tafsir: Analysis of traditional interpretations and modern hermeneutical approaches.

  • Methodologies of Interpretation: Exploration of various manhaj (methods) and ittijah (orientations) in Quranic studies.

  • Thematic Studies (Tafsir Mawdu'i): Examining the Quran's perspective on contemporary social, legal, and ethical issues.

  • Linguistic and Literary Analysis: Studies on the I'jaz (inimitability), rhetoric (balaghah), and philology of the Quran.

  • Living Quran: Empirical research on the practice and reception of the Quran within Muslim societies.

  • Manuscript Studies: Research on ancient Quranic manuscripts and the history of the Mushaf.

Every submitted manuscript undergoes a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure the highest standards of academic integrity and quality. This means the identities of both the authors and the reviewers are kept confidential throughout the evaluation.

Open Access Policy

Al-Qadim provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles.

Publication Frequency

The journal is published twice a year (semi-annually), providing a consistent and reliable platform for the academic community to share their latest findings and insights.

To ensure global reach and accessibility, the journal accepts and publishes manuscripts in English, Arabic, and Bahasa Indonesia.
